A new, valuable resource aimed at addressing trucking’s HR challenges is now available through the official launch of Trucking HR Canada.

The organization unveiled its online presence today at truckingHR.com.

Trucking HR Canada is immediately offering a new series of human resources seminars and services for individual fleets. Other support to be unveiled in the coming weeks will include a self-guided online tool known as the HR Circle Check, which will help industry employers identify and address any gaps in HR practices, and research on communicating with the youngest generation of industry employees.

These build on a broad library of manuals, training programs and research findings which focus on meeting industry needs. Guides offer practical tips and techniques to shape a fleet’s human resources policies; online training tools can enhance the skills of employees from dispatchers to driver coaches; and, clearly defined job tasks outlined under National Occupational Standards support everything from training materials to job descriptions.

Many of the library’s early offerings were developed through the Canadian Trucking Human Resources Council (CTHRC), which has officially ceased operations.

Numerous industry stakeholders participated in related business planning and consultation sessions over the last year.  The result is a new organization with a revised focus, direction and streamlined governance structure.  “This transition from one organization to the other has gone smoothly, in large part because of the leadership of CTHRC Chairman Gord Peddle,” stressed Trucking HR Canada Chief Executive Officer Angela Splinter. “His passion for the CTHRC’s mandate, coupled with his business savvy and unwavering confidence in our staff’s ability to find a way to move forward, was a key factor in what we have achieved today.”

The support of Canada’s most prominent membership-based fleet organizations will ensure that Trucking HR Canada continues to reflect and respond to the industry’s needs, Splinter says.

The organization’s inaugural board of directors includes Canadian Trucking Alliance President and Chief Executive Officer David Bradley, Private Motor Truck Council of Canada President Bruce Richards, Manitoba Trucking Association Executive Director Bob Dolyniuk, and Mike Millian of Hensall District Cooperative.

Trucking HR Canada is committed to:

• supporting the recruitment and retention of Human Resources needed to meet industry demands;
• partnering on initiatives which impact Human Resources;
• providing a national forum for gathering and sharing  best practices, and;
