The educational level of the average truck driver is significantly lower than that of the total labour force. About one-third of the driver population
had less than a high school education, compared with 15 per cent for the total labour force.

The Canadian Trucking Alliance, a federation of the provincial trucking associations, representing over 4,500 motor carriers has formed a Blue Ribbon Task Force on the Driver Shortage to try and provide leadership in the daunting task of developing a coherent direction for moving forward on the issue.
